Some MLSD bus routes won’t run Tuesday 10/5 due to staff shortages

- Moses Lake, WA

Due to staffing shortages some Moses Lake School District bus routes won’t be picking up and dropping off kids Wednesday October 5th. In a statement the school district said this will be an off and on problem in the coming weeks.

CLOSED ROUTES FOR OCTOBER 5th:

  • 47

  • 51

  • 60

“Moses Lake School District is currently experiencing a critical shortage of school bus drivers. In the coming weeks, it may be necessary to cancel bus routes due to this shortage.”

Cancelations won’t come at reasonable times for parents and guardians instead notifications will be released according to MLSD “with very little notice”but said they will try their best to inform those effected a day ahead of time. The district also said that cancelations are the last resort if the district can’t find certified substitutes to fill the absent drivers and if a driver is absent mid day the afternoon route won’t be canceled and will run on long delays.

The district also said,

“We regret that this will place a real hardship on our MLSD students and families. We apologize for this situation and ask that you please bear with us as we work our way through this extremely difficult staffing period for our Transportation Department.”
