Red Apple Fire in Chelan Co. now burning 7,000+ acres with Level 3 and 2 evacuations still in place

A three-alarm brush fire is continuing to burn in Chelan County between Cashmere and Wenatchee. The Red Apple Fire has been forcing short notice evacuation notices for residents in Sunnyslope and Monitor Tuesday night. The fire has grown to an estimated 7,000 acres by Wednesday morning, according to the Washington State Department of Natural Resources. Currently the Red Apple Fire is threatening 234 homes, along with orchards and a power substation. Below are evacuation notices posted by the Chelan County Emergency Management.

Road closure informatoin from Washington State Department of Transportation:

US 2 Both Directions - US 97A is closed due to fire activity from north of the Stemilt roundabout, to Swakane Canyon Rd, 9 miles south of Entiat. Travelers should avoid the area and use US 97 as an alternate North-South route. There is currently no estimated time for reopening. From milepost 202 to milepost 206.
