A march and vigil is planned for June 7th in Moses Lake. Organizers are asking that the march to be peaceful and maintain peaceful.
Organizers are meeting at the Paul Lauzier Park, located on Central Drive near Home Depot at 5:00pm. The march will begin at 6:00pm the group will head onto Central Dr head towards Valley Dr. to Stratford Road onto South Pioneer Way heading to Nelson Road to Division Street and will then make its way back to the park where a vigil is planned. Community members are encouraged to join the march as well as the vigil.
“Our purpose is to show our support to our friends, family and citizens that are part of the black community; and to demand change and justice,” organizers stated. “This will be a peaceful march. Do not show up with violence on your mind or in your heart. We are not here to cause a riot. We are here to demand change, and to demand justice.”
On the organizers facebook post the group said they are working with local law enforcement to ensure the marcher's safety throughout the march and vigil. MLPD hasn't said how they are planning to keep rioters under control if they attempt to hijack the event. The City of Moses Lake hasn't said if they are planning a curfew for that evening.
