One dead after a fatal collision on SR-26 near Royal City

A fatal collision on SR-26 7 miles east of the town of Royal City claimed the life of one person. At 7:06 pm Grant County Sheriffs sent out a notification that State Routes 26 and 262 were fully closed following a fatal collision. Washington State Patrol said that the collision happened around 6:00pm .


The collision happened on the eastbound lane of SR-26 near the SR-262 junction 7 miles east of Royal City. Troopers says the car hit by the dairy semi was trapped underneath the trailer witch caused the death of the driver. The dairy truck spilled milk on the highway causing a longer delay to reopen the road.


Both SR-26 and SR-262 are open and authorities are conducting an investigation into the collision.
