Montana siblings charged for just over a pound of meth and a pound of heroine. Car impounded.

- Moses Lake, WA

Saturday morning, shortly after 1 am, officers received a call of suspicious activity at the Earnie’s Kittleson Road gas station. MLPD said, a male and a female had gone into the restroom together, and spent an inordinate amount of time inside, blocking it from other customers.

The officer was able to contact Raymond Shourds, 25 and D’Anja Charlo, 19, of Pablo, Montana. Shourds saw the officer and shoved a Snapple drink down his pants as he exited the store, however he did pay for it.

Then, Shourds gave the officer his brother’s name. Shourds’s brother had a warrant for his arrest, and Shourds was arrested. When he was arrested, officers located cocaine in Shourds’ pocket.

Officers developed a probable cause to believe there were more drugs in the vehicle, which is registered to Charlo. The vehicle was impounded for the search warrant. Despite having a warrant, and being in possession of cocaine, Shourds was not able to be booked into jail due to the current restrictions. Both he and Charlo were released pending charges.

A search warrant was later served on the vehicle, a 2002 Audi. Inside, officers recovered over a pound of methamphetamine and just under a pound of heroin. Washington state charges will be filed against Shourds and Charlo, and the car will be civilly seized.

The investigation is continuing.
