Fatal collision on SR-17 Sunday morning near Coulee City kills one

A 75-year-old man from Coulee City passed away after attempting to cross the two-lane highway Sunday morning.


The gentleman was identified as Stanley C. Porterfield of Coulee City man. According to the Washington State Patrol (WSP), Porterfield was riding his bike on the southbound shoulder of SR-17. As he began to cross the highway, at Moore Rd., he was struck by a 2003 Honda motorcycle heading southbound. The driver was an out of state resident named Andrew Reeves 55 of Phoenix, Arizona.


Porterfield of Coulee City was transported to the Confluence Health-Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee, where he later passed away. Reeves of Phoenix was transported to Samaritan Hospital in Moses Lake with unspecified injuries. He is not expected to face any charges in the accident.
