- Moses Lake, WA
COVID-19 concerns have led to the decision to cancel this year’s Sip & Stroll event scheduled for Saturday, September 18th.
Sip & Stroll is an annual wine walk hosted by the Downtown Moses Lake Association and downtown businesses; it features local wineries, artists, musicians & businesses.
“After much consideration for the community’s health and safety, the Downtown Moses Lake Association Board of Directors have made the tough decision to postpone the Sip & Stroll event due to the surge in COVID cases. This decision was not taken lightly. We want our businesses to stay open without restrictions and we will continue to advocate for that.” -Rosenda Henley, President of the DMLA.
The decision followed conversations with the Grant County Health District and other local organizations who have decided to cancel and/or pivot their events. In a statement on Friday, September 4th the GCHD reported, “173 (PCR = 117, antigen = 56) additional Grant County resident cases of COVID-19 since our last update on September 2. Cases are from all areas in Grant County. At the time of this report, 29 patients are hospitalized with COVID-19. Patients ages ranged from 20’s to 80’s”.
“It was a tough conversation to have with the DMLA Board of Directors. We wanted to host this event for our community and our wonderful downtown businesses, however COVID cases keep rising and we feel it’s our responsibility to make a choice for the greater good of our community. We promise that our next Sip & Stroll or Brews & Tunes event will live up to the anticipation”. Lexi Smith, Executive Director of the DMLA.
For the Sip & Stroll participants that have already purchased a ticket online, the DMLA will be initiating the refund process between today (9/7) and tomorrow (9/8). For those that purchased a ticket in person from Michael’s Market & Bistro, please contact the Downtown Moses Lake Association.
The DMLA said in a press release,
